FALLING IN LOVE WITH THE TIMELESS SOMETHING’S GOTTA GIVE BEACH HOUSE

October 11, 2010

(updated 6.18.24) Back in 2010, I fell head over heels for the gorgeous beach house in Something’s Gotta Give. The home, with its elegant yet relaxed Hamptons style, quickly became a dream for many, myself included. Little did I know then, this classic design would not only endure but evolve into an iconic aesthetic that still captivates hearts today.

When the movie was released on DVD, I eagerly added it to my collection, immersing myself in the cozy yet sophisticated atmosphere of Erica Barry’s home. Countless viewings later, I was still discovering new details that made the space so inviting. The blend of natural light, soft colors, and perfectly curated decor elements created a sanctuary that felt both lived-in and luxurious.

Fast forward to now, and the influence of this film’s interior design is more prominent than ever. Nancy Meyers, the visionary behind the movie’s set design, has set the bar for what many consider the epitome of timeless home decor. Her aesthetic has not only stood the test of time but has become a benchmark for elegant and comfortable living spaces. From magazines to online design boards, the demand for homes that capture the essence of Erica Barry’s beach house continues unabated.

Interior designers still receive frequent requests to recreate the serene yet chic vibe of the Something’s Gotta Give home. Its charm lies in the effortless blend of classic elements with a modern twist, making it a versatile and enduring inspiration for anyone looking to revamp their living space.

Nancy Meyers’ influence extends beyond just one film. Her unique approach to design, characterized by warm neutrals, layered textures, and a touch of vintage flair, has become a hallmark of contemporary elegance. If you’re as enamored with her style as I am, you’ll definitely want to explore her latest projects. Nancy’s new home, for instance, is a treasure trove of beautiful details and serves as a testament to her ongoing legacy in interior design.

For those of us who dream of coastal retreats or simply wish to infuse our homes with a bit of that Meyers magic, the Something’s Gotta Give beach house remains a source of endless inspiration. Whether you’re redecorating your own space or just love to admire beautiful homes, this design classic continues to offer the perfect blend of comfort, style, and timeless charm.

I, too, have "Good House Movies" – only buy the copy because of the set! LOL. Sometimes I don't even see the movie the first go around because of the setting!

This is definitely a Top Ten for me.

Desiree pictures of every room on this set are in my files. It is the ultimate timeless classic home, in my opinion. It's been 10 years since the movie's release and this home does not look dated one bit! Test of time!!

    Have a great weekend.
