Good morning everyone! I have to say that I really look forward to this Coffee Talk with Desi post on Sundays. It’s a great time to get to meet my readers and for you to get to know me a little bit more. Let’s dive right in!
I’m looking for a new dining room table and love your style. Can you recommend some dining tables that similar to those at RH, but less expensive?
Absolutely! Right now my favorite dining room table is from Pottery Barn. It’s called the Parkmore Extending Dining Table which seats 6 comfortably and 8 when extended. It looks like a RH design, however less expensive. I think these chairs would look great with it and these rattan armchairs on the ends.
Hi Desiree! Was wondering if you could tell us about your Christmas decorations and ornaments and where you like to shop for them. Thanks! Have a beautiful and blessed day! xoxo
Thank you for asking! I’m so excited about decorating for Christmas this year! First of all, I plan on decorating with lots of classic red, green, tartan, and plaid. Since, my home is mostly white I love having these festive colors around for Christmas. I also love holiday scented candles, chic kitchen towels, and fun accessories like these spatulas. My go-to places to shop for Christmas decor is Pottery Barn, Target, Williams Sonoma Home and Williams Sonoma. I will also pick up a few things here and there at T.J. Maxx. I plan on sharing a Christmas home tour right after Thanksgiving, however many of the Christmas items on my wishlist may sell out by then, so I included them for you below. I already have a gorgeous collection of tartan pillows and throws that I’ll be using and plan on adding more to the collection. I think the best way to add a festive look to your home is by using Christmas pillows, so this year I’m buying this North Pole pillow that is sooo adorable and on sale right now. I created a Holiday Decor page in the menu section under Holiday Shop. Check it daily, because when I find new decor I’ll add it to this page.
I love all your outfits but what I’d REALLY like to see is what you actually wear in Miami this time of the year. I live in a warm climate too (South Carolina) and can’t wear sweaters and vests and scarves BUT I still want to dress for the seasons.
This is so funny, because people tell me all the time that I seem like a New England kind of girl with all my coats, boots, and scarves. The only thing Miami is missing is the change of seasons. But you’re right! It’s hot here in Miami and I’m not able to wear all my cozy clothes all the time, however I love dressing up for the holiday season. So what I did here was find some tops and blouses that are festive and fun. They can be worn with jeans or pants. Just to give you an idea here’s an outfit I styled last year that’s perfect for our type of holiday weather. The top in that post was from last year, but I linked their new style here. It’s so pretty and on sale for 40% off! I’m definitely going to order it.
I’m a new subscriber to your blog and love reading you Coffee Talk with Desi posts! Can you share what inspired you to start your blog?
Yes and thank you so much for following along! I knew for many years before even starting my blog that I wanted to create a lifestyle website where I can share what I love with my readers. At the time my boys were little and there weren’t many websites in the 1990’s. I checked into having someone design a website for me and it was so expensive, so I tucked the dream away. In 2010, by the grace of God, I came across a blog and knew this was exactly my desire from many years before. Without hestitation, I signed up with Blogspot that same day and wrote my very first blog post. For the longest time, there were only three people reading my blog; my husband and my parents. Inspired by the Hamptons and the movie, Something’s Gotta Give, I continued to create a space with things that I love- home decor, fashion, and beauty.
Thank you so much for sending in these questions! Keep sending them in and I’ll answer them next Sunday! Check out my previous Coffee Talk with Desi & here in case you missed them. Have a bless week everyone! XO, Desiree
