Good morning friends! Here’s another installment of Coffee Talk with Desi. Thank you for sending in your questions. I hope you enjoy it!
I am pretty new to your blog and I look forward to checking it out daily. How did you get started blogging? Is it your full-time job, and how did you know what steps to take to do so?
Hi and thank you for following along! I started blogging in 2010 as a hobby. I always wanted to have my own website and in my early twenties I inquired about one, but I couldn’t afford to have one created for me. Fast forward to the year I turned 40, I ran into a home design blog and loved it! Within a few hours I started my own blog for free through Blogger. Here’s my very first blog post! I was instantly hooked and loved creating new content.
It does take time to create pretty posts for my readers. However, I don’t consider it work, because I love it so much! A couple of years ago, I had my blog migrated from Blogger to WordPress and now I pay to have my blog hosted. Having a self-hosted blog allows me to have more design capability when it comes to the look and function of my blog.
To answer your question if I blog full-time. I’m actually a teacher and took a leave this year to help my mother. The blog has been a great outlet since I’m not in the classroom this year.
Would you give some tips on the keys, you know this place so well- many thanks!!!
Hi! Yes, we love visiting the keys on the weekends! My husband’s parents live in Key Largo, so we always stay there if we decide to spent the night. When you visit the keys you’ll want to dress comfortably, because it’s usually hot there. I always make sure ot wear comfortable shoes, shorts, a breezy blouse and a light cardigan for the restaurants. Sometimes I wear breezy dresses too. Oh and I always bring a hat in case we go out on the boat. You can find more style inspiration for visiting the Keys in The Resort Shop here on the blog. I add new styles to it everyday!
Here are some places that we love to dine at when we’re in Key Largo: Skippers, Hobos, Cafe Largo (Italian). We also love the Islamorada Fish Company in Islamorada which is behind Bass Pro Shops and right next to it is Morada Bay and Pierre’s (pricey).
I’m going to Italy in May so if you have any good comfort shoes that are cute please post.
I am also going to Italy in April and like the previous poster want to know what shoes you are taking for walking the cobblestone streets.
Great questions! I’m in the process of figuring out what shoes I’m taking with me to Italy. It’s going to be cool when I go next month with high temps in the 60’s. For us Floridians, that’s cold! Lol! I’m definitely going to pack comfortable walking shoes like sneakers. I linked some below that I think would be comfortable for this trip. I definitely would love to bring these Superga sneakers since they can go with everything. As I get closer to the trip, I’ll share everything I’m packing. I want to be able to link everything I wear, because I plan on taking outfit photos while I’m there. As far as comfort shoes I really love all of these below.
Hi Desiree! I love your style and would love to see some of your favorite dresses right now for spring. I have a wedding shower to go to and want to wear something that’s pastel. Thank you!
Hi! Thank you! I’m so happy you asked, because I just added some cute dresses to this blog post that are perfect for spring. Scroll through and click on any style to check them out. I’m planning on ordering this off the shoulder dress later today!

I chuckled when I read that you were a teacher. I assumed that was the case. It’s funny, there are 4 other bloggers that I follow who are teachers. Can’t wait to see the Italy pictures!

Hi Desiree, you give me hope that it is possible to start a blog in my 40s. My focus will be on wellness and incorporating travel into a healthy lifestyle. Quick question, how do you create the images with the various numbered items on them? What program do you use?
