Desiree Leone of Beautifully Seaside shares the top 5 beauty mistakes women over 50 make (and how to avoid them).

When the weather heats up, my makeup routine gets a little reset. I go from “doing the whole thing” to wanting just the essentials—the glow-givers, the SPF-packed multitaskers, the products that can survive a hot Florida day and still look good in a beach selfie. So I did a little summer edit of my beauty bag and swapped out the heavier things I used all spring for easy, breathable favorites. Some are brand new, and some are tried-and-true products I keep coming back to every summer. If you’re craving a little beauty refresh this is everything in my makeup bag right now (and what I’m ditching for summer)

Everything in My Makeup Bag Right Now (And What I’m Ditching for Summer)

Hydrating Tinted Summer Moisturizer

This hydrating tinted moisturiser is the secret to glowing, soft-focused skin that looks sun-kissed and lit-from-within!

It’s like a magic potion that adapts to your skin as you apply it; it morphs to your natural skin tone for a natural-looking finish!

Cream Cheek Stick

Glides effortlessly onto skin for a lightweight wash of color, while nourishing the skin. Blendable and buildable. Use it on its own or layer for added payoff.

A Swipe of Mascara

In the summer, I love keeping it simple with just mascara and a swipe of light eyeshadow—it feels fresh, effortless, and just right for those hot, sunny days.

Illuminating Tinted Eye Cream

I’ve been loving this tinted illuminating eye cream—it’s perfect on its own for no-makeup days at home or layered under concealer for a fresh, bright look.

Glowy Highlight Balm

I swipe this on my cheekbones, eyelids, and even collarbones sometimes. It’s my little coastal glow.

Tinted Lip HydraBalm

Glossy but not sticky, and feels so good on. Perfect color with just one swipe.

Brow Gel

A quick swipe and my brows look instantly more polished. It’s one of those small things that makes a big difference.

Setting Spray

If I’m heading out during the day, I give everything a mist so it stays put. It helps keep the glow without the meltdown.

What I’m Ditching for Summer (for now)

1. Full-Coverage Foundation
Just too much for this heat. I’d rather let my skin breathe and focus on SPF and glow.

2. Powder Blush
It’s out. Cream blush is faster, fresher, and way easier to apply on the go.

3. Matte Lipsticks
Beautiful… but not for summer. I’m team glossy, juicy, low-maintenance right now.

4. Heavy Eyeshadow Palettes
I haven’t touched mine in weeks. Instead, I’ve been using one swipe of bronzer in the crease or a cream shimmer stick and calling it a day.

My Summer Beauty Mindset

Summer beauty, for me, is all about feeling light and fresh. Less makeup, more skincare. More glow, less fuss. I want to look like I’ve just come in from a walk by the water—dewy cheeks, glossy lips, and soft lashes. The kind of look that takes five minutes but still feels like a little self-care ritual.

These products are helping me get there every morning—and I love how simple (and pretty!) they make my routine feel. Click here to read more of my beauty stories.
