Simple Ways I Updated My Living Room to Get That Nancy Meyers Look

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been making a few little changes around our living room, and it’s amazing how much cozier and more inviting the space feels. My goal was to give it that effortless Nancy Meyers look—a space that feels layered, lived-in, and welcoming, with that soft coastal charm I love.

The first thing I did was update the pillows. I added a mix of velvet and woven textures in the prettiest shades of blue for fall and winter. They instantly warmed up the room while still keeping it fresh and coastal. I love how the blue tones pick up the natural light during the day and add a soft, moody glow in the evening—it reminds me of something you’d see in one of her beautiful, sunlit Hamptons homes.

Next up, a new large square coffee table. Our living room is a bit bigger now, and this piece helped anchor the space perfectly. The woven texture adds a layer of warmth and ties in beautifully with the neutral tones I already had. It also gives me more surface space for styling books, candles, and little seasonal accents—like a rattan pumpkin or a vase of hydrangeas, depending on the time of year.

And the best part? I’m still waiting on bamboo chairs to arrive! I can already picture them adding that classic coastal-meets-chic touch to the room. I think they’ll round out the space beautifully and make it feel even more like a cozy Nancy Meyers-inspired set.

I love that this refresh feels thoughtful but simple—just a few updates that completely changed the atmosphere of our living room. It feels soft, welcoming, and timeless… exactly the kind of space I want to come home to.
