Coastal Connecticut Cottage

December 16, 2010

About the House

Style: Late 18th-century shingle style cottage with wide-plank floors, plaster walls, and exposed beams

Space: 3,800 square feet spread over three floors with four bedrooms and four full baths

Setting: The main drag of Rowayton, Connecticut, a quaint harbor town with a population of 4,000 that’s home to many sea-seeking artists and writers

View: From the front porch, Five Mile River, which flows into the Long Island Sound, plus neighbors casually strolling to and from town.

The front of the house.

I am in love with this entryway! Especially the white tree!

What do you think about the simple fireplace?

Nice white bathroom.

I love the artwork above the bed in this guestroom.

I miss the Five Mile River, spent most of my life in Rowayton, on our boat and @ Roton Point. I miss it so!

Love Courtney's comment. Too bad we couldn't just click "add to cart" when we see a house like this!

I fell for this house in Coastal Living, too. The only thing I wasn't sure about was the fireplace without the mantel. But that'll be easy to fix when I move in… 😉

    Have a good weekend, Desiree!
