Honolulu Outdoor Entertaining

February 13, 2011

Hawaiian designer, Michelle Uchiyama, gathered some of her friends for a dinner party held at at clients home on the coast of Hawaii.  She wanted to incorporate all the elements that would represent nature and the culture of her island state.  The setting is breathtaking!
Michelle Uchiyama

“In Hawaii, the ocean always extends an invitation to dine outdoors,” says Michelle. “Here, as guests of nature, we only have to travel as far as our own backyard.”

Here is what she served her guests…..
Sandy Beach Sunrise Smoothie

Lobster-Truffle Salad with Big Island Corn Pudding
Pan-seared Mahi Mahi with Eggplant Misoyaki
Haupia (Coconut Milk Pudding) with Fresh Fruit

That is beyond spectacular. Having lived in Hawaii for 6 years….it is still my favorite place on earth, though I didn't appreciate it as much when I was there and frequently got "island fever"…..it is so beautiful however. That setting is pure magic……I can almost hear the waves crashing, feel the rush of warm ocean air…..ahhhhh! Great visual! I LOVE the vase with the sea urchins in it! The sea urchin is an under-appreciated inspiration for decoration I think 🙂
