Today, I want to talk about my personal feelings on aging and what skincare I use.ย I remember a conversation that my Grandfather and I had the day I turned 30. He called to wish me a happy birthday and all I did was whine about turning 30 and he said that I should enjoy every year and count it as a blessing. What he said made a huge impact and my heart changed from that very moment. Since that day, I enjoy growing older each year. I actually feel like 47 is awesome! I’m not really sure what being 47 years old is supposed to feel like, but with the Lord’s grace it feels great to me. I consider getting older a gift and I don’t ever want to take that for granted. Do I miss being younger? At times I do, mostly because I would love to re-live some of the sweet memories my husband and I had when my boys were younger. I miss the little hugs and kisses from them, however my boys are so much fun to hang out with now as adults!
My skincare routine is pretty simple. I’m not trying to look younger, rather I’m trying to have the best possible skin I can for my age. It would be exhausting for me to try to look like I’m in my 30’s or even early 40’s. One of the best tips someone shared with me before I turned 30 was to stop getting sun on my face. I took her advice and I think that made a huge difference over the years. I always cover my face with a hat when I’m in the sun.
Then, a few years ago I met Colleen Rothschild and tried her beauty line for the first time and loved it! Her line works really well with my sensitive skin and I’ve been using it ever since. It’s actually her 4th Anniversary since starting her beauty line and you can save 20% off with code 4YEARS. Click here to shop site-wide and save.
My Daily Skincare Routine
I wash my face with Colleen Rothschild’sย Radiant Cleansing Balm,ย then every morning I use herย Sheer Renewal Cream. This cream helps keep my face moisturized and minimizes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Once a week I use her Clarifying Detox Maskย and the Dual Enzyme Polish. Both of these are perfect for my sensitive skin and I get great results! Shop my favorites from her line below.
Thank you so much for visiting me today! Here are some scriptures I found on aging! I never really studied them before and now I’m just in awe of the Lord’s blessing over growing old! Some of our best years are ahead of us! Amen!
They will still yield fruit in old age; They shall be full of sap and very green. Pslam 92:14
Even to your old age I will be the same, And even to your graying years I will bear you! I have done it, and I will carry you; And I will bear you and I will deliver you.ย Isaiah 46:4

WOW! I love your sharing today about aging gracefullyโand especially the encouraging Scripture you shared. You bless me everyday!
Thank you! You’re the sweetest! Have a blessed weekend! XOXO
This is a great post for all readers. I’m about to turn 40 in June and I was talking with a co-worker about aging. She said that age is just a number it, life is about how you feel and that each day is a gift from God. You never know what each day will bring, so be thankful and think of every day as a gift to spend with those you love.
Amen sister! I totally agree and love that you’re having such great talks with your friend. It’s good to have friends like that. ๐ God bless you always!
Great reminder about staying out of the sun and enjoying your skin at all ages!
Thank you Carrie! I’m so happy you enjoyed the post. XO
I cannot believe you are 47…you look great! I regret all the sun bathing I did in my 20’s and early 30’s…now I’m 41 and it has caught up with me. Just trying to maintain what I have and be happy with life! Love your blog!
That’s the key! Maintain your skin. It’s never too late to take care of your skin. And honestly, I should have mentioned this in the post, but a great foundation does wonders to cover up any damage that was done. My skin tone is not perfect, but it looks so much better with the skincare I use. That’s why I love it so much. Thank you so much for commenting! XOXO
Thanks for sharing your skin care products. You look amazing!
I miss my boys being little too, but love hanging out with them as young adults. Theyโre my favorite people!
Thank you sweet Christine! You’re so kind! XO My boys are my favorite people too! Love that!
You have beautiful skin. Great advice to keep your face out of the sun.
Thank you Doreen! My skin is not perfect, but with the help of my fav skincare it looks so much better than before. XO
Thank you for the information! Very helpful. ๐
You’re welcome sweetheart! XO
I love this post! I just started using one of Colleen’s products and am enjoying it so may add a few more to my regimen. I agree – the best thing you can do for your skin is to protect it from the sun!
Thank you Angela! So happy that you are enjoying Colleen’s beauty line. XO
You look great for 47! My Mom was never in the sun and looked fabulous at 73 – so something to be said about too much sun especially living in Florida. Sunscreen, hat, sunglasses and umbrella always!
Thank you Sandy! That’s awesome about your Mom! How did she do it? She’s amazing! XO
I really needed to hear this today! I have a โbigโ birthday next month 60! I love your encouraging words and beautiful scriptures. Each day is a gift.
You look wonderful for any age! I may have to try the Colleen Rothschild line. I keep hearing such good things about it! Thank you for your post today.
Thank you! Happy Early Birthday Patricia! 60 is a great age and you are a shining light! I can just tell by your sweet comment! Yes, try her line! It’s amazing really!
Well I must say you are beautiful inside and out. I was very surprised to read your age. I honestly thought you were in your 30’s I love everything you have said. I’m in my late 50’s and I wish I took better care of my skin when I was in my 20’s and 30’s I started taking care when I was in my 40’s. Your mom is a very smart lady!! I was a sun worshiper. Everybody’s true beauty is inside them. If you are happy with yourself it will glow on the outside. Smiling always helps too! My 3 favorite skin cares are Colleen Rothschild, Tula and Arbonne. Thank you for today!!
Thank you Diana! That’s so true about how you feel on the inside, reflects on the outside. I have a post planned to talk about true beauty and it has nothing to do with looks. So what you said is a confirmation to keep writing that post! Thank you Lord! I was sent Tula years ago and I never tried it and I’ve heard great things about it. I’ve never heard of Arbonne. I’ll check it out. Thank you for commenting today! XOXO
Wow 47! You look absolutely amazing and your attitude about
Thank you Heather! You’re so sweet XOXO
is even better and love he bible verses!
Oh thank you ! So happy you like reading them here! XO
I thought you were in your 30’s you look beautiful! I also agree about the privilege of getting older, many don’t get to age and see their children grow into adults we’re the lucky ones if we do.
Thank you Jane! Yes, it’s a blessing to grow old XOXO
Thank you for the skincare info. Your skin looks great! I’m 53 and wish I had used more sunscreen all those years ago. I’ve been taking better care of my skin for several years now and I’m using more sunscreen especially now that we have recently moved to FL. I just try to look the best I can for my age and try to have a positive outlook. Thanks for your uplifting messages and daily scriptures!
Thank you Wanda! I hope you are enjoying Florida! Yes, the sun can be brutal, so make sure you always have a hat or umbrella. I’m so happy you enjoy the daily scriptures! XOXO
You DO LOOK GREAT for 47!!!! I certainly have to agree that staying out of the sun is a #1 tip. Aging gracefully and not changing how you look outside cosmetically is what makes one truly beautiful.
Thank you for sharing Colleen Rothschild skincare regimen products. Will definitely try!!! ๐
Thank you Mitzie! You’re so sweet. XOXO Yes, you will love her line! I’ve been so happy with it and everyone I know who uses it loves it too. Thank you for commenting! XO
Love this post. I have sensitive skin also so Iโm always interested to hear what works well for others. Thanks for the review!
You’re welcome Kay! I feel the same way and was a little nervous about trying her line, because my in was so sensitive. Thankfully it really works for me!
Yesterday someone I had not seen in a while asked me if I had work done because I looked so good. She made my day! I think moisturizing is so important and you are so right about the sun. I love the beach but I really protect my face. Blessings. Deb xoxo
That’s awesome Deb! Yes, a great moisturizer is the key to great looking skin! Thank you for the blessings! XO
You look amazing and I totally agree that the most important thing you can do to avoid premature aging is to limit the sun you receive!
Aging is inevitable, so we just have to make the best of it. I avoid sun on my face, as well.
I love your skincare ideas.
Your skin looks amazing!
I remember when I was in my early 20’s complaining to a older co worker that I wished it was time for my vacation and she told me not to wish my life away, that simple comment had a big impact on me and I always stop and appreciate what’s going on now.
I think that you have a really healthy perspective on aging! And you look fantastic too ๐
