My dreams came true last week as my husband and I packed our bags for a road trip up the East Coast to Charleston, SC. This was our first road trip without our three boys and we enjoyed this special time together. We stayed at 86 Cannon, a luxury boutique inn located in the heart of historic Charleston. I heard about this lovely inn on Instagram and knew that if we were to visit Charleston, 86 Cannon was where we would stay.
Everything at 86 Cannon was just as I imagined it. Luxury and sweet Southern hospitality. We were welcomed with a glass of champagne upon arrival and given a short tour of the Inn, which included a cafe, library, and a beautiful porch on each floor. The inn has five rooms, compete with all the amenities you would want in a luxury inn. One of the many highlights of staying at 86 Cannon was the fragrant smell of coffee in the morning, which made me feel right at home. Each morning we got ready for the day and headed upstairs to enjoy a European-style continental breakfast in their cafe.
If you’re inspired by updated Southern luxury, then you will love your stay at 86 Cannon. Everything was elegantly thought out to provide the best stay possible. Even the Frette sheets were amazing! We enjoyed wine and cheese service each night of our stay and had the best conversation with both owners who were so kind and thoughtful! Their two pups, Gus and Sully, were the cutest ever and greeted us each day.

We were in Charleston for less than 48 hours, so I made a mental note to stay longer on my next visit. There are so many restaurants and places to see that we didn’t get a chance to check out this time. However we spent time on the beach which was really nice. The cool breeze off the ocean was exactly what we needed to relax on this vacation. Below I listed some things we enjoyed while we were there. If you’re planning on visiting Charleston, both my husband and I highly recommend 86 Cannon as the best place to stay in Charleston.
Fun Things To Do In Charleston
Shopping on King Street The first thing I did once we arrived in Charleston was ask my husband to drop me off in front of LAKE Pajamas, which is located right on King Street. I knew what I wanted to buy, so I wasn’t in there too long. I highly recommend these super soft, adorable pajamas. Parking can be a little tricky here, however we were able to find parking everyday with no problem. You can also Uber there as well.
Sugar Bakery Take a scroll or ride a bike down to Sugar Bakery with is right down the street from 86 Cannon. We bought a dozen cookies to bring home to our boys and almost ate all of them in the car on the way home (actually we ate 3 of them). The cookies were AMAZING! Next time we’ll make sure to buy three dozen! You’ll agree once you try them.
Sullivan’s Island This relaxing beach is just a few minutes away by car ride. We brought beach chairs with us on this trip and spent two evenings at the beach.
Poe’s Tavern We heard so many great reviews about this place which is located in the beach area on Sullivan’s Island. I highly recommend sitting outside and trying out their nachos.
Beardcat’s Sweet Shop We enjoyed a gelato here after our wine and cheese hour at 86 Cannon. It’s located on Sullivan’s Island near the beach.
