Using my all-time favorite color combination, I created a beautiful blue and white coastal tablescape.
Blue and white have always been my favorite colors to use when I decorate. I’ve always gravitated to this color combo for as long as I can remember. When I ordered a new dining table and rattan chairs last year, I knew I wanted to incorporate a tablescape that was coastal and casual. I think I was able to do that with this blue and white coastal tablescape that I put together in just a few minutes with table top pieces I already own and love.
The Inspiration
I’m always inspired by Nantucket, so adding a fresh bouquet of blue and white hydrangeas is always fitting. My youngest son actually bought this bouquet for me for Christmas, which is what inspired me to whip up this beautiful blue and white table setting. I also love to layer my table with pieces that have different textures. This makes for a more interesting and fun table top for guests and family to enjoy!
There’s nothing better than having a beautifully set table when guests arrive. This is something I hope to do more often now that I have a table that fits eight people comfortably.
Here’s everything you need to create a blue and white coastal tablescape for your dining room.
These handwoven placemats bring beautiful texture to the coastal table and go with everything.
I love to start off with a lovely textured placemat, like the Minorca placemat I ordered from Serena & Lily a little over a year ago. We use them for everyday and on special occasions. You can purchase these in a set of 4 or as a single.
Using the right dinner plates will help you set the scene for layering a beautiful coastal tablescape.
I’ve had these white dinner plates for a few years now and they’re still available. We use them as our everyday dinnerware and when we have guests over. I also love the way they look layered with a salad plate and napkin.
I love adding a touch of blue with the salad plates to tie in the coastal look.
The salad plates were a purchase I made a couple of years ago. They’re sold out now, but I think these blue and white plates are just as beautiful. Adding salad plates with the perfect touch of blue is key.
Dinner napkins– the tabletop essential. Don’t skimp on these! A good set will last forever.
Dinner napkins are always fun to use when having guests over and I love being able to use mine that I’ve had for a few years now. While my napkins are not available anymore, I was able to find three more sets of gorgeous napkins that are even more beautiful. This set of wave napkins just arrived and I’m over the moon excited! Are they beautiful or what?
Napkin rings are always a fun accessory to use when setting a blue and white coastal tablescape.
Bamboo flatware is a must-have for the coastal tablescape. They’re elegant and casual at the same time.
I ordered two sets of this bamboo flatware for my Christmas get together with the family and they looked beautiful. I’m going to order two more sets to have them handy for bigger gatherings. I’m pretty blown away about how gorgeous they look on the table.
Have fun with the glassware! Add some that are blue and white or have texture, like rattan and wicker.
I’ve been working on a collection of glassware to compliment my table settings and enjoy using pieces that are perfect for mixing and matching.
The perfect flower vase for your blue and white hydrangeas will brighten up the whole tablescape.
My dining table is always ready for fresh hydrangeas thanks to this lovely Poetto vase I ordered from Serena & Lily a years ago. The white painted base helps to beautify any space.
