Hi friends! I have an all new coastal grandmother summer style post for you today. If you’re new to hearing about the coastal grandmother style, then here it is in a nutshell. It was created by a TikTok influencer and has been all over the internet! Of course, I’m here for it! Here’s her genius description of what makes someone a ‘coastal grandmother.’
“It’s a term that I coined for this aesthetic, if you love Nancy Meyers movies, coastal vibes, recipes and cooking, Ina Garten, interiors and more, there is a good chance you might be a ‘coastal grandmother.’”
The good news is, you don’t have to live near or anywhere near the coast to capture this vibe. When I first heard of this trend on TikTok I knew right away I was on board. My blog originally named, Chic Coastal Living, was inspired entirely by the movie, Something’s Gotta Give, which in turn was the lifestyle I’ve always dreamed of living since I was a little girl. This trend captures everything from style to how we decorate our homes. The essentials for a coastal grandmother lifestyle are neutral tones like blues, white, cream, and light pinks. The coastal grandmother capsule wardrobe would include styles you can interchange to make new outfits for everyday living. Everything has a high quality feel that is timeless. The best news is, you don’t have to be a grandmother to be a coastal grandmother. It’s for everyone, no matter what age you are.
Today, I’m sharing some of my favorite options to dress the part of a coastal grandmother while on vacation. I ordered most of these looks to wear while in Nantucket which, by the way, is definitely a coastal grandmother destination. Long walks on the beach, possibly with a glass of rose in one hand, is on my list of things to do while I’m there.
