I love living in Florida—the sunshine, the palm trees, the ocean breeze. But deep down, there’s a part of me that craves that quiet New England charm… the kind that comes with cedar-shingled houses, ticking stripe fabrics, and a vase of hydrangeas on every windowsill. The funny thing is, where I live now, I can easily walk to grab a coffee and stroll by the water—and every time I do, it gives me a little Nantucket feeling. That mix of everyday ease and coastal beauty is exactly what inspired me to bring a touch of New England beach house style into my Florida home. And while I didn’t do any renovations, a few thoughtful changes made all the difference. Enjoy how I made my Florida home feel like a New England beach house (kind of).
How I Made My Florida Home Feel Like a New England Beach House (Kind Of)

Blue and White Everywhere
The easiest (and dreamiest) way to channel New England charm. I swapped in soft blue and white throw pillows, added a striped blanket to the couch, and hung my coastal photograph in soothing ocean hues.

Woven Accents That Feel Right at Home
I leaned into natural textures—like seagrass vase, raffia placemats, and bread baskets for homemade treats. It instantly gave the space that “collected over time” charm.

Nautical but Neutral Touches
Instead of overt coastal decor, I went with subtle nods—like my framed Nantucket photography, woven bowls, and striped seersucker napkins that feel pulled straight from a Cape Cod picnic.

Layered Lighting for a Cozy Glow
I added warm-toned lamps and used softer bulbs to make everything feel a bit more New England cottage and less Miami. One lamp even reminded me of a little inn in Nantucket that we’ve stayed in.

Coffee Table Styling: The Nancy Meyers Edition
Think: books about Nantucket, a classic blue hydrangea arrangement, and a glass candle with a clean scent like salt air or linen. These little vignettes make a big difference.

Kitchen Touches That Feel “Cottage by the Sea”
Blue rimmed coffee mugs, a woven fruit bowl, and a ceramic pitcher on display. These easy swaps make my kitchen feel a little less “modern tropical” and more charming seaside cottage.
BLENDING THE STYLES: Florida Meets New England
I didn’t want to completely erase the bright, sunny vibe of our Florida home—I just wanted to layer in that East Coast charm. Now, the space feels like me… a little sun-kissed, a little Nantucket, and 100% relaxed.
Home should feel like an escape—whether you’re living near the beach or dreaming about it. And this blend of Florida coastal and New England charm? It’s exactly the kind of cozy, fresh, and peaceful space I love spending time in. Read more inspiration of Nantucket here!
