Hi everyone! How has your weekend been going so far? I’m happy to be back with another Coffee talk with Desi and love reading your questions. I always look forward to these posts and love that you’re enjoying them as well. So, let’s get started!
Hi Desiree! I wanted to thank you for sharing how you started blogging in last week’s Coffee Talk. It was great to hear how you followed your dream! I saw that you’re planning on running again. Can you share some running shoes that you love? I’m ready to buy a new pair while I’m inspired. Thank you!
Thank you so much! I’m so happy you enjoyed the Coffee Talk last week and I appreciate your feedback. I just ordered these Asics blush running shoes and wore them yesterday for the first time. They’re for stability and were very comfortable. These white Asics are also on my wish list right now and I may order them while they’re available. For size reference, I usually go up one size in my running shoes. I linked my top 3 favorites for you below. Click on any of them to get the shopping details.
I loved your green smoothie recipe and already made it for my family. I have an old blender like you and want to buy a new one. Can you share some recommendations for blenders.
I’m so happy that you made the green smoothie. I think it’s so refreshing! Here are some blenders that have been on my radar after I realized that my blender was so old. Ha ha! Maybe I’ll buy one for my 25th anniversary. Click on them below to get the shopping details.
Hi Desiree! I love your style and would love to know what your favorite looks are at Old Navy? They always have cute things for spring and I would love to shop your favorites for an upcoming trip.
Great idea! Thank you for submitting this, because I’ve been wanting to check out Old Navy looks for spring and found these new styles that are now on my wish list.
Hi Desiree. You said your son is graduating this year and got into his reach school. Do you have any suggestions for taking the SAT and ACT? My son is graduating in two years and I would love to know if you have any tips you can share on this.
That’s a wonderful question! We were advised during their junior year in highschool to take the SAT and ACT test once to see which test they preferred. Then keep taking the test they preferred over and over again until they are happy with their score. For example, my older son preferred the SAT over the ACT, so he kept taking that test over starting the fall semester of his 11th grade year. My middle son preferred the ACT over the SAT and kept repeating that test until he was happy with his score. My youngest son preferred the SAT over the ACT. My boys did not take any college test prep courses. I’m sure it would have helped them to score higher, however they were always great test takers and felt they could do well on their own. I definitely didn’t want to stress them out with another class, because each of them had a packed schedule of AP courses and the last thing they wanted to do was to take another class.
I would highly suggest, finding a great test prep course/tutor for your high schooler if they need some help in this area of test taking. Even if your child is a great test taker, they may want to have a tutor to get their score as high as possible for the colleges that they are applying to. Having a high test score helps in regards to earning scholarships. My older boys received many full and partial scholarships due to their GPA and test scores, which was a huge blessing.
As a teacher, I know that many students get stressed while taking tests and that can cause them to score lower. I always prayed with my boys before each test and while they were testing. I hope this helps!
I love your blog and love visiting everyday! I feel like we’re friends! I have a question for you. Do you read any books? If so, what’s on your list of best books?
You. Are. The. Sweetest! Thank you! Oh, I’ve been reading a lot lately and it’s been the Bible. I started going to a bible study last fall and have been reading daily scripture on an iPhone app called, The Word Among Us. The app provides the daily mass scriptures and a reflection that is always right on target with Jesus. It’s really been life changing following the story of Jesus and his healings. I can’t get enough!
Here are some other books that I would love to recommend! One was written by my Mother-in-Love and it’s called, Supernatural Joy. This is her first book and she mentions me in the book too. I’m actually planning on reading it again! Another set of books I can recommend are by my friend and mentor in Jesus, Maria Vadia. We have been friends for years and now we serve in ministry together for the Glory House of Miami. I believe Maria has written 9 books and each of them are a powerful testimony of God’s word. You can check out all of her books here.
Well, I hope you enjoyed this week’s Coffee Talk with Desi #12 . It was a pleasure to answer your thoughtful questions. Please continue to send me more questions! I pray you have a beautiful day and I will see you here tomorrow with a new 40 Best Styles for Spring! XO, Desiree
