Hi friends! Recently, the NIR team (known as Shop Newburyport on Instagram) arranged a getaway for me to enjoy a unique experience of staying at Houseboats at Newburyport just after my trip to Nantucket. We left Nantucket by ferry to Hyannis Port then drove to Newburyport to stay at this lovely floating hotel suite docked along the Merrimack River. This houseboat was surrounded by beautiful yachts and had the best view of the harbor. Houseboats at Newburyport now offer three houseboats and all of them feature a living room with full kitchen, one bedroom with queen bed, bathroom with shower, small sleeping loft, air conditioning and two outdoor decks. These houseboats are located just steps away from restaurants and shops, including Newburyport’s premier waterside restaurant, Michael’s Harborside, where we had the most delicious seafood lunch of scallops and shrimp our last day there.
I was so excited about staying in a houseboat for the very first time and it was amazing! The houseboat was so comfortable and spacious. We enjoyed watching the sunset a couple hours after we arrived and the sunrise the next morning. We met a beautiful couple staying in the houseboat next to us, where the wife surprised her husband with an overnight stay for his birthday! They were having wine on the deck and were so sweet to meet. We talked about how wonderful it is to enjoy time away as empty nesters.
