Hello August! My Cozy Goals for the Month

Every year when August arrives, I feel the same little excitement. Summer isn’t over—not even close here in South Florida (and honestly, it never really is!)—but there’s something about turning the calendar to August that always feels like a fresh beginning. Maybe it’s because I spent so many years as a teacher, when August meant new school supplies, fresh bulletin boards, and the excitement of a brand-new school year. Even now, I still get that same feeling of anticipation.

That’s why I thought today would be the perfect day to share a few of my cozy goals for the month ahead. I’d love to hear what’s on your list, too!

P.S. I’m wishing all the teachers here a wonderful back-to-school season.

1. Enjoy the rest of summer.

Like I mentioned, one of my biggest goals this month is to enjoy the rest of summer and truly savor every moment. We’ve been spending lots of time out by the pool, and I’ve been soaking up these slower days by reading a good book, taking little trips to the Florida Keys, and enjoying plenty of conch fritters.

2. Welcome little touches of fall.

I’ve already started adding pumpkin spice creamer to my morning cup of coffee, and it’s delicious! It was such a sweet surprise from my husband because he knew how excited I’d be. I’m also organizing all of my fall décor so that when the time comes, I can start decorating right away. I always love the anticipation of the cozy season just as much as the season itself.

3. Continue refreshing my home.

I’ve been refreshing different areas of our home lately, and I’m really loving how everything is coming together. I recently ordered a few new patio furniture pieces from Walmart and chaise lounges from Wayfair, and they’ve made such a big difference. The quality is wonderful, the prices were great, and we’ve already been spending so much more time enjoying our outdoor space.

I’m also working on creating a cozy playroom/office. I found the most gorgeous blue rug for the room, and it’s already making the space feel so warm and inviting. Next on the list is painting the walls, which I’m hoping to tackle later this month.

And finally, I’m giving our guest room a little refresh! I ordered two new twin beds from Walmart that should be arriving in the next couple of days, and I can’t wait to put everything together. My goal is to create a beautiful, comfortable space that’s always ready for family and friends to stay with us. I’ll definitely be sharing more updates on all of these spaces as they come together!

4. Build a timeless fall wardrobe.

I already have my eye on a few beautiful new arrivals at J.Crew, and I can’t wait to start wearing them this fall. I also put together some outfit ideas from these new arrivals here.

5. Continue taking care of myself.

One of the best things I’m doing for myself right now is visiting the Adoration chapel a few times each week. I’ve gone on and off over the years, and every time I return, I’m reminded of the incredible peace it brings me.

I’m also reading 33 Days to Eucharistic Glory, and it has been such an inspiring book. If you’re looking to deepen your faith, I highly recommend it.

Another goal of mine this month is to continue taking good care of my health. I’ve started working out more, getting back to my long walks, and spending time in the pool—some of my favorite ways to relieve stress. I’m also planning to eat healthier this month. I keep thinking about how wonderful I felt when I completed the Faster Way to Fat Loss program a few years ago. Focusing on whole, nourishing foods gave me more energy, helped me feel my best, and it’s a lifestyle I’d love to get back to.

What are you most looking forward to this August?
