HOW TO TRAVEL TO ITALY ON A BUDGET

In my opinion, everyone should travel to Italy at least once in their lifetime. I hear from so many people that they would love to see Italy, however it’s so expensive. Well, today I’m sharing how to travel to Italy on a budget.

How to Travel to Italy on a Budget

My mother-in-law and aunt enjoyed a European Gate1 Travel tour in 2017 and suggested we book an 11-day trip to Italy in March of 2018. I’ve never been on a tour before, so I didn’t know what to expect.

Sorrento - Beautifully Seaside

Our 11-day tour of Italy included Venice, Rome, Florence, and Sorrento. I paid around $2,200 which included all my flights, most of my meals, tours, three optional tours that I highly recommend, and so much more. This price was for dual-occupancy. Two things that help save money are booking your trip early and sharing a room. My aunt and I had the best time as roommates.

Optional Tours I Highly Recommend

Our first optional tour was dinner at a gorgeous Tuscan restaurant. This tour included an enjoyable ride through the Tuscan hills to a restaurant that surpassed all of my expectations!

Our second optional tour was dinner and sightseeing at night in Rome. This tour included a dinner show and an evening sightseeing drive of Rome. This was a lot of fun and very entertaining, plus the food was amazing!

The third optional tour we took was a full day Amalfi tour. This tour included a drive on the Amalfi coast where you see the Isle of Capri off to the distance, a drive above Positano, all the way to Amalfi where you can walk around the streets and grab some pizza, a gelatto and see lemons the size of grapefruits. Absolutely beautiful!

Each tour, whether it’s included or optional, is done with great taste and highly entertaining. Gate1 Travel wants you to have fun and we sure did!

I will always cherish those memories of visiting Italy for the first time. Booking that trip through a tour company was affordable and entertaining. Each of our tour guides were extremely knowledgeable and fun. Below, I included the details of my tour with Gate1 Travel and everything it included.

  1. Beautiful pictures! I have been to Italy many times but the Amalfi coast remains on my bucket list. I spent two weeks last October driving through the small towns of Tuscany and this coming October I plan on doing the same, driving from Venice to Croatia. I find Italy and Spain to be some of the easiest countries to travel in.

  2. Wow, Desiree’! You’re amazing photos brought back so many good memories. I have been to Italy seven times, yet I always love to think about returning. There is no place on earth quite like it; of this I am certain.
Pace e bene (Peace and Goodness)! 💕

  3. Looks like a great trip. I have never taken a tour trip but now will certainly consider that type of travel. Thanks for sharing Desiree!
