10 Things I’m Loving

I don’t know about you, but I’ve been craving the old-school blogging days when you could truly get to know the person behind the blog. I miss reading about what inspires someone, what they’re thinking about, and the little everyday things that bring them joy.

With so much AI in the world today, it’s made me want to lean even more into sharing me. So, welcome back to the old-school Desi—only better, I hope! My goal is to share more of the things I genuinely love, what’s inspiring me lately, and a few of the little habits that help me find peace in the middle of a busy, sometimes stressful world. (Yes, I’ll definitely be sharing those too!)

I truly believe that when we intentionally fill our minds with good, beautiful, and uplifting things, it brings more peace and joy into our lives.

So today, I thought it would be fun to kick things off by sharing 10 Things I’m Loving Right Now. Grab your coffee or tea, get cozy, and let’s catch up like old friends.

1. My Faith

I know this isn’t a faith blog, but I wouldn’t be honest with you if I didn’t share the most important part of my life, and that’s Jesus. Life isn’t always easy, but over the years I’ve learned that every time I run to Him, He fills me with a peace that truly surpasses all understanding.

2. Love Being a Grandma

Oh my goodness! I am so in love with this little boy, and I think when he sees me, he feels the same way! Ha ha!

I absolutely love when he reaches out his little hands and leans in for me to pick him up. Oh my goodness, what a beautiful blessing and an incredible joy it is to be his grandma!

3. My Husband and Kids

My husband is my best friend and my counselor. Ha ha! I saw a post on Instagram where a wife said she was a “human,” but her husband was a “Human Pro Max.” LOL! I laughed because that’s exactly how I feel about my hubby.

It’s amazing how differently we’re wired, yet we’re such a perfect fit for each other. I love him so much.

I’m also a proud mom of all boys, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. My sons are some of the greatest blessings in my life, and now I have a wonderful daughter-in-law who has added so much love to our family. We are truly blessed.

4. Love My job

Sharing fashion and coastal home inspiration is truly one of the greatest blessings in my life, and I’m thankful every single day that I get to do this.

I retired from teaching in 2022 to pursue this dream full-time, and it has truly been a dream come true. It hasn’t always been easy, though. One thing I’ve learned is that this creator business changes constantly—sometimes year by year, sometimes month by month, and sometimes even day by day. I’ve learned to stay flexible, embrace change, and go with the flow.

That’s why I love sharing content across all of my platforms, from my blog and newsletter to Substack and social media. I want to be wherever my readers are because this wonderful community means so much to me.

I’ve always lived and breathed design. Even as a little girl, I was rearranging rooms, dreaming up beautiful spaces, and finding inspiration everywhere I looked. And I still have the heart of a teacher. I genuinely love sharing what I’ve learned over the years and helping others who dream of building a creative business of their own.

5. Home Updates

Speaking of my love for decorating, I’m having a blast updating three spaces in my home, which I’ve been sharing with you lately. I still have a ways to go, and I love adding special treasures that I find here and there along the way.

For the most part, I already have the foundational pieces in each space, and now I’m layering in beautiful details to bring everything together.

If you’d like to see my guest room update, I shared a blog post yesterday outlining my design plan. I also shared a dreamy family room design that’s currently on my wishlist. 6. Early Fall Style

It happens every year without fail. I tell myself I don’t want summer to end, and then all of a sudden I’m brewing pumpkin spice lattes at home and dreaming about fall.

I was walking Goldie this morning when I looked up at the sky, and I could have sworn it had that crisp, clear look that reminds me of a beautiful fall day. My heart leaped! Cozy days are just around the corner, and I couldn’t be more excited. But until then, I’m soaking up these last beautiful weeks of summer while looking forward to everything the new season brings.

8. Exercising

I always include these on my favorites list because they make me feel better in mind, body, and spirit. I’ve been adding more load-bearing strength exercises to my routine using these weights I ordered from Target, and they’ve been so good. I keep them in my family room with an exercise mat, making it easy to fit in a quick strength-training workout and work up a good sweat. I’m looking forward to seeing my arms become more toned by the holidays!

9. Fisherman Fall

I shared these Nordstrom Anniversary Sale picks the other day, and when I stepped back and looked at the collage, it instantly reminded me of New England fisherman fall style. That inspired me to create another collage centered around that cozy aesthetic and share it with you too. I was so happy to see how many of you across all my platforms loved the Fisherman Fall inspiration. It makes me so excited to keep creating more style inspiration like this!
