Insights on Displaying Family Photos

My husband recently suggested that we display more photographs of our kids when they were little.  I thought it was a great idea and went out searching for elegant, casual frames that will enhance the look and feel in our home and be a source of joy when we look at each picture of our children.  Finding the frames wasn’t the hard part, though.  I quickly realized I wasn’t sure on how to display them, so I went online last night and found great advice at Ralphlauren.com.

After reading their Q & A on frames, I now feel more confident in arranging the memories of our kids and family.  Here are a few photos that have inspired our new project.

Ralph Lauren Q&A

What are some ways to display a collection of art or photographs?

Unify a collection of in different sizes and subjects by framing them in the same way.  Hung together on a wall, they take the place of one large piece of art.  Even a close corner comes alive when artfully decorated with a framed collection; lean multiple frames of various sizes and finishes against the wall on a floating shelf for a chic collage affect.

What are some interesting ways to display my photos?

Pictures not only serve as holders of out favorite snapshots, but they literally provide an aesthetic framing to out favorite memories.  Don’t let your photos get lost in their surroundings, though, and choose a frame that is simply timeless and elegant.  Wood makes for a beautiful and timeless framing choice, providing a subtle, neutral background against which your pictures will stand center stage.  Fill your home with them for a relaxed, gallery feel, or know that any classic frame always makes the perfect hostess or housewarming gift that any recipient with be thrilled to receive.

This photo is from a previous post I did on an Urban Beauty inspired by Something’s Gotta Give.  I love the way these photos are displayed over the sofa.

The collage in this Coastal Living Idea Home really looks terrific.
