My Newburyport Travel Diary
Good morning everyone! I hope you’re having a great start to your week. Today I wanted to share a full travel diary of my recent trip to picturesque coastal Newburyport. If you follow me on social media you may have seen my Instastories sharing videos and photos of our lovely Houseboats at Newburyport stay. We will always remember our trip to Newburyport as unique and fun! Many of you have been interested to learn more about what we did while in this charming town and today I’m going to share all the details with you.
Dinner in Newburyport
First of all, this trip took place right after we left Nantucket. We drove from Hyannis Port to Newburyport and checked into Houseboats at Newburyport just before sunset. Our first impression was WOW! This is going to be awesome. We’ve never been on a houseboat and loved the amazing view. We got dressed and walked to dinner at The Poynt which was within walking distance to our houseboat. Our meals were delicious! We had tasty appetizers and seafood as an entree.
Breakfast in Newburyport
I jumped out of bed the next morning to see what the sunrise looked like and this is was I saw. This beautiful orange glow all around. I knew this was going to be a beautiful day in Newburyport and I was super excited to explore this town.
We got dressed, shot a few photos around the houseboat then walked to Plum Island Coffee Roasters which was just around the corner to have pastries and coffee for breakfast. The weather was cool and crisp, so we decided to sit outside to enjoy our breakfast.
Shopping in Newburyport
After our lattes and pastries it was time to shop. You know I love to shop! All of the shops we visited were within walking distance to our houseboat. Shopping outdoors in this gorgeous weather was definitely a treat for me. I had the best conversations with the owners about how their shops and I learned that Newburyport is a wonderful place to shop gifts for everyone on your list. The first shop I visited was M.K. Benatti Jewelers, which is owned by a husband and wife. They were the sweetest, most lovely couple! They even shared how he proposed to her while on a trip to Nantucket! How dreamy is that? Their jewelry designs are beyond beautiful, so if you’re looking for a special piece of jewelry or an engagement ring I would make sure to visit their store while in Newburyport.
The next store I visited was SOAK & Shoreline. This was such a fun store and the perfect place to find gifts. I met the owner who was so delightful and we talked about how her store grew to where it is today. I can see why! It’s such a lovely llittle shop filled with pretty soaps, pjs, and more. She told me that Christmas time is a really fun time to visit as well, because all the shops decorate their windows and serve either hot chocolate or some type of holiday treat to all the shoppers. It sounded like a Hallmark movie set to me and now all I can think about is that I want to go back in December! Who wants to go with me?
More shopping and I was loving it!
Just thinking about this town as I type brings back such happy memories. The next shop I visited was Nauti Pearl which is a lovely boutique of coastal inspired clothing, jewelry, and gifts. I tried on the most cozy striped cashmere sweater there that was so dreamy. You can see that try-on session in my Newburyport Instastories.
The fourth shop I visited was Bobbles and Lace where I tried on these paper bag jeans and now I’m wishing I bought them. This shop has fun trendy looks as reasonable prices. Make sure to check them out on your visit to Newburyport.
And just before we headed to lunch I stopped in at Sea Bags Maine. Sea Bags Maine was an huge inspiration to me when I first started this blog almost ten years ago, so I was thrilled to see this cute little shop in Newburyport.
Lunch in Newburyport
After a full afternoon of shopping, we were delighted to have lunch at Michael’s Harborside where we had the most beautiful view of the harbor. Once again, we stuck to seafood as an entree and enjoyed every bite. The shrimp and scallops were delicious!
I hope you enjoyed my Newburyport Travel Diary! If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. In case you missed it, yesterday I shared a post about the Houseboats at Newburyport.
